Meet the Team

Jason Galbraith

Ryan Galbraith

Managing Partner of RNR

Ryan has been farming since 2011 and he would tell you that he has learned a lot about the business in those years.  Growing up on the farm, Ryan always liked to be involved with what was going on at the farm.  An adventurer, Ryan traveled twice to Australia to work on farms. In between those trips he attended the University of Manitoba and graduated in 2011 from the Agriculture Diploma course and officially joined the business later that year, first running his own operation alongside Neil and Roberta and then in 2014 when the business incorporated, he joined the farm.

A lifelong learner, Ryan has continued his education since University:

  • TEPAP in 2017
  • Leadershift in 2022
  • Farmer Coach  2023
  • FCC’s Ivey School of Business 2023.

Recently married he and his wife Richelle, whom is also from a farm, are looking forward to continuing to grow the business in the future.

Roberta Galbraith

The glue that keeps everything together!  That’s what Roberta says….and she may not be wrong.

A lover of agriculture and farm life, Roberta takes care of the administrative roles, keeping people fed, managing HR, farm safety, record keeping and financial and legal aspects of the business.  A people person, she maintains strong connections to industry networks that in turn feed her need for community and industry involvement.  An advocate for leadership and change and embracing new opportunities she is trying to find the balance in life…being on the farm is just so fun!

Giving back to community is important and Roberta serves as a board member for:

Neil Galbraith

Neil Galbraith

Our resident agronomy guy, Neil graduated with a Degree in Agriculture from the U of M in 1984.  He then spent close to 20 years working in the industry with the last 18 as an Ag Rep for the Province of Manitoba. Raised on a farm in the Red River Valley he always knew he wanted to farm, but it just wasn’t in the cards to do it where he grew up.  In 2006 he and Roberta decided that they would try their hands at fulltime farming.  At the age of 45 it was either now or never!  Neil and Roberta had dabbled with part time farming for years so the leap, while a big one, was not completely unknown.

Neil manages the business alongside Ryan, largely responsible for agronomic recommendations and providing mentoring advice to Ryan and now younger son Jason on the ins and outs of growing the best crop possible.  His knowledge on marketing and managing the business has been very valuable.

They say that with farming you go from labor to management and then back to labor in your lifetime and Neil would say that he is now doing more labor than management and embracing the opportunity to work alongside his sons and wife in the business that he and Roberta built.

Jason Galbraith

The newest team member, Jason brings his love for agriculture with him.  A graduate of the U of Ag Diploma program in 2015, he spent a few years in the ag industry as an agronomy guy and then came back fulltime on the farm. Jason loves travel and has been on 5 continents. After highschool Jason worked on a farm in Australia as well as representing Canada in the U20 Rugby International competition.  Jason has a strong, quiet, cool demeanor.  The best go- to guy when you need to be trained on something, an appreciator of nature, loves a good joke, the farm and his German Shepard – HOPE!    Jason joined the farm in 2022 and looks forward to many more years of working on and in the business.

He and his partner Kara (also a farm gal) are looking forward to many years growing the farm business.

Our Crops

We have grown a variety of cereals, oilseed and pulse crops over the years. However, in recent years we have narrowed it down to wheat, canola, peas and when we can plant a fall seeded crop, we try Hybrid Fall Rye or Winter Wheat.   The wheat we grow is firstly contracted through a local grain company to Warburton Milling in England for making baked goods and breads. If the wheat is not milling quality in a particular year, then we sell it into the grain system for other uses.  Our canola typically goes to a crushing plant in Harrowby or to local elevators to be eventually crushed for oil and the canola meal is used for livestock feed. The peas are contracted to Roquette for both livestock and human consumption.

As with any food product or ingredient it is important to have quality control.  We endeavour to keep grain in good condition by utilizing grain testing protocols on every load, managing grain drying and aeration fans and ensuring storage is clean.  We strive to keep losses to a minimum of less than 1%.  Storage cables manage grain temperatures and bins are manually checked to ensure grain is not heating or needing to be moved.
